Methven, the leading designer and manufacturer of premium showers and taps, has launched a brand new Residential Specification Range targeted at developers that want to ensure they have a great end user experience, with compelling designs and finishes, whilst future proofing their specification to meet lower water consumption building regulation targets. Martin Walker, CEO for Methven, reflects on the launch’s success and his hopes for a more sustainable future.

“Here at Methven we are always looking for ways to develop the next generation of bathrooms, whether it’s for homeowners or the commercial market. The launch of our new Residential Specification Range is supporting designers, architects, specifiers and developers to consider how they can achieve a higher level of water sustainability and can meet the code for ls sustainable homes level 4.

“The collection of coordinating tapware, showering solutions and accessories in five different finishes provides professionals with a portfolio of products that deliver the highest standards in water efficiency, without compromising on visual appeal or performance.

“To kick start the launch of the range, we have carried out a coordinated marketing campaign, incorporating Public Relations, Media Advertising and Social Media engagement. We have also worked with our ambassador, George Clarke, to create videos and engaging social media content to push our message of water sustainability out to wider audiences. George is just as passionate about water efficiency as we are as a business, which has created the perfect partnership during our time working together.

“One interesting takeaway we uncovered from our extensive meetings with the press is that while carbon emissions and sustainability were a key part of their agenda, water efficiency is something they’ve never fully explored. That is why it’s key that we work with organisations such as Waterwise to continue to promote the message around the vital link between climate change and water efficiency.

“There are genuine concerns the UK will experience severe water shortages and water-stressed regions in the next 20 years due to climate change and population growth. As a result, the Environment Agency is urging everyone to reduce their water usage by 40 litres or more. Statistics suggest that each individual uses around 56 litres of water in the bathroom but by taking simple measures it can help households and businesses conserve water and money. For example, Waterwise estimates that by switching to an efficient showerhead it can reduce household bills by up to £120 per year.

“This is why it’s imperative that as an industry, we collectively take a proactive approach to protecting the UK’s water supply through the specification of tapware and showering systems that deliver the highest possible standards of energy, water efficiency and end user experience due to Methven’s patented spray patterns optimising the showering experience.

“However, achieving this goal shouldn’t have to be at the sacrifice of form and function, which is why we have launched our new Specification Range to support professionals in successfully fulfilling all of these considerations, regardless of budget or specification requirements.  It also allows future proofing of their product specification in the long term ensuring we are ahead of any tightening of water consumption regulations.

“The latest offering consists of three product ranges, Wai, Motu, Tasman, each featuring contemporary designs that are combined with expert craftmanship and constructed of the highest quality materials to offer first class longevity and reliability.

“Each collection is also available in a diverse selection of on trend finishes to support professionals in meeting the unique requirements of each project.”
