Saving water in summer Print

We all like to have a nice green garden in the summer and colourful flower beds, but why not make your garden water efficient this summer?

Ditch the hosepipe and use a watering can to water your plants and grass.

Attach a water butt to your gutter to catch the rain and use this water to water the garden, clean the car and wash the windows.

Water your garden early in the morning or late in the evening when evaporation is at its lowest.

Check the weather forecast before you water your plants, because it might be forecasted to rain soon.

Wash your car with a bucket and sponge rather than a hosepipe.

Put mulch in your flower beds to lower evaporation rates.

Recycle water from the kitchen into the garden by pouring water used to boil/rinse vegetables on your plants.
