Introduction from Gareth Walker, Research Associate
|
Following on from last month's theme of introducing the team, I thought I would say hi! I'm Gareth and I am the Research Associate at Waterwise. This is actually a “hi and bye” from me; I am leaving at the beginning of October to do a PHD. The research team at Waterwise are really busy at the moment, continuing our work on the evidence base for efficiency, developing the strategy for the SHARE social housing project, and supporting our joint project with the Energy Saving Trust. This will probably be my best chance to say thank you and goodbye to all the people I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the past two years and to wish everyone the best of luck in whatever they’re up to.

The campaign is delivered by Waterwise and Talisman Communications on behalf of 12 UK water companies, supported by the Energy Saving Trust and endorsed by the Minister for the Natural and Marine Environment, Huw Irranca-Davies.

| Waterwise welcomes Ofwat's plan to ensure less water is wasted |
|
Waterwise welcomes Ofwat’s draft determination for the 2009 Price Review – in particular the recognition it gave to six water company schemes to help their customers waste less water.
Ofwat has recognised the importance of the water environment and has allowed water companies resources to fund most of the key projects for restoring or enhancing key wildlife sites. Likewise Ofwat has given a boost to water efficiency by allowing six enhanced water efficiency programmes where water companies will help customers save water in their homes, helping to reduce water consumption, and at the same time reducing energy bills and their carbon footprint.
