Waterwise encourages everybody to practice waterwise gardening even in areas without a drought or water restrictions. There are many ways to have a beautiful garden which uses very little water. Watering your garden with a watering can or using a drip irrigation system in areas without a hosepipe ban is the most efficient way of watering your garden. A hosepipe can use up to 18L/min so using it for just 30 minutes is the same as a household uses in one day.

14 June 2006: Government leads by example to reduce water consumption on all estates
Waterwise welcomes the introduction of new Government sustainability targets set by Environment Secretary David Miliband and Prime Minister Tony Blair yesterday. In order to lead by example to all business and domestic consumers, the Government has set new targets to reduce water consumption by 25% on the office and non-office estates by 2020. It also aims to reduce water consumption to an average of 3000 litres per person per year for all new office buildings or major office refurbishments.
