Waterwise enews – June 2009
Welcome from Jacob Tompkins, Managing Director of Waterwise
Due to popular demand we have decided to make our enewsletter monthly. This allows us to keep you more up-to-date with the work we are doing.
Please remember that we are interested in your feedback and also your examples of water efficiency. We would love to hear from you about what you are doing for water efficiency, or if you have a new product, a case study or any questions concerning what we do.

World Environment Day
Today (5 June) is World Environment Day and to celebrate, Waterwise, has ten Deva Satinjet water efficient showerheads worth almost £600 to giveaway. To enter into the running to win one of these great free showerheads Waterwise is asking everybody for suggestions on what the UK should adopt as a new water saving rule. Click here to read more. Good Luck!
This year's theme is 'Your Planet Needs You-UNite to Combat Climate Change'. 5% of UK greenhouse gas emissions comes from hot water - that's more than the aviation industry - so to help combat climate change try reducing the amount of hot water you use on a daily basis. This will not only save you money on your energy bill, but will also reduce your carbon emissions!

Website sponsorship opportunities
If you are interested in sponsoring our website there are now opportunities available.
The Waterwise website receives around 12000 hits a month from members of the public, government officials, Ministers, Opposition Parties, Parliamentarians, retailers, manufacturers, NGOs, regulators and water companies. It is seen as a wide-ranging and reliable source of information by water stakeholders and non-water stakeholders alike.
Sponsorship provides the advantage of increasing your visibility to this mixed audience. Sponsors benefit from a key association with the trusted and independent Waterwise brand.
If you are interested in discussing this further please contact us.

Rivers on the Edge
|

Rivers on the Edge is an innovative project, a partnership between WWF-UK and Waterwise, aiming to restore rivers on the edge of ruin. The project focuses on England’s unique chalk streams to demonstrate how our individual water use can impact on the unique ecosystems that exist in and around our rivers. Working with water companies, the project will help thousands of homes, schools and businesses reduce their water use and return millions more litres of water to their rivers. In turn, Rivers on the Edge calls on the government, as part of its ambitious strategy to make all homes zero carbon by 2050, to make every home water efficient by 2050, linking water efficiency with energy efficiency retrofit schemes.

Water and behaviour change Bulletin
The purpose of this e-Bulletin is to share research and activities related to water and behaviour change. We intend for the e-Bulletin to be interactive and so we ask subscribers to email us with news, announcements, events, requests for information, opportunities for collaboration and other information, which we will include in future W&BC e-Bulletins.

Act on CO2
The next strand of Act on CO2 will focus on communicating water efficiency messages, including where water comes from, why it needs to be saved and how it can be saved. The Defra campaign, which will be a mix of PR and advertising, will run from mid July to September across England, with some regional targeting. While a small part of the campaign will focus on businesses, the majority will target domestic consumers, particularly those in Defra’s ‘Sideline Supporters’ segment.
