ECODES
ECODES in Spain launched ‘Zaragoza, the Water Saving City’ project in February 1997 which is probably the best example in Europe of one city which has been retrofitted and is completely water efficient. The ECODES project emphasised the importance of technological change to achieve a sustainable reduction in water consumption, and it challenged the city to save 1,000 million litres of water in one year.
The Alliance for Water Efficiency
The Alliance for Water Efficiency in the USA is a stakeholder-based non-profit organisation dedicated to the efficient and sustainable use of water. Located in Chicago, the Alliance serves as a North American advocate for water efficient products and programs, and provides information and assistance on water conservation efforts.
the savewater!® Alliance
The savewater!® Alliance Inc. was officially incorporated in Victoria on 9 June 2004 as a not-for-profit association. Its aim is to accelerate water conservation behaviour change and water saving product purchasing in line with government and water industry needs.
UNESCO
The UNESCO Water Portal is intended to enhance access to information related to freshwater available on the World Wide Web. The site provides links to the current UNESCO and UNESCO-led programmes on freshwater and serves as an interactive point for sharing, browsing and searching websites of water-related organizations, government bodies and NGOs.
WSAA
Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) is the peak body of the Australian urban water industry and has offices in Melbourne and Sydney. Its 33 members and 29 associate members provide water and wastewater services to approximately 15 million Australians and many of Australia's largest industrial and commercial enterprises.
World Water Council
The World Water Council was established on the initiative of water specialists and international organisations, in response to an increasing concern about world water issues from the global community. Its mission is to promote awareness, build political commitment and trigger action on critical water issues, to facilitate the efficient conservation, protection, development, planning, management and use of water on an environmentally sustainable basis for the benefit of all life on earth.
International Water Management Institute (IWMI)
IWMI is a non-profit scientific organisation funded by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). IWMI’s research agenda is organized around four priority themes covering key issues relating to land, water, livelihoods, health and environment. The Institute concentrates on water and related land management challenges faced by poor rural communities.
World Bank
Water Resources Management is the integrating concept for a number of water sub-sectors such as hydropower, water supply and sanitation, irrigation and drainage, and environment. With this perspective it aims to ensure that social, economic, environmental and technical dimensions are taken into account in the management and development of water resources.
