10 June 2009 - Climate Change and the Water Sector Print
The aim of this 2009 CIWEM Climate Change meeting is to focus on the implications of recent policy developments in terms of the way we act upon the water, energy and carbon agenda across the wider water sector.

Objectives:
• To understand the current top down policy and legislative drivers and how they are influencing practice
• To consider in more detail the links between energy and water policy in terms of alignment, opportunities and incentives
• To cover both mitigation and adaption strategies affecting the water companies and the wider water sector
• Showcase leading edge work on a range of carbon management tools
• Highlight case studies of good practice and share knowledge across the wider sector
• Set out challenging ideas for future thinking on the way we manage climate change impacts in the water sector

Climate change and the water sector Although climate change is now being factored into almost every aspect of water management, in 2007 CIWEM decided that, in order to meet the challenges of a fast developing climate change policy and carbon management agenda, it should run a series of conferences that explored the implications of these developments for the wider water sector.
