Future friendly AwardsFuture Friendly Awards

The 5th Future Friendly Awards, held a green prize-giving ceremony at the London Wetland Centre in September 2011.

Hosted by P&G and ambassador Gabby Logan, the event was attended by representatives from the 12 area finalists as well as our Big and Little Heroes and independent stakeholders from the Energy Saving Trust, Waste Watch and Waterwise.

The Awards themselves were presented by Gabby Logan, and opened with a speech from Irwin Lee, Vice President and Managing Director of Procter & Gamble UK and Ireland. Discussing P&G’s commitment to sustainability, he underlined the importance of individual actions in preserving our environment. Even little changes, made by everyone, help to contribute.

The Big and Little Heroes were also announced, celebrating individual efforts from Sarah Elsy of St Bede’s Primary in Chorley, and Emily Bosworth of Huddersfield. Their work showed that simple changes and starting small don’t just help the environment, they also encourage others to do the same. Read more.

The quality of entries set a high bar for next year, and we want to congratulate all who entered the 5th Future Friendly Awards. Good luck in the future development of your projects, and we hope to see even more in the next Awards!
