December 2008 - Waterwise submission of evidence to the Walker Review of Household Charging and Metering for Water and Sewerage ServicesWaterwise have submitted evidence to the Walker Review, which aims to examine the current system of charging households for water and sewerage services, the effectiveness and fairness of current and alternative methods of charging and to consider the social, economic and environmental concerns.

September 2008 - Waterwise response to Ofwat's consultation on Future Water Efficiency TargetsWaterwise welcome Ofwat’s consultation on Water Efficiency Targets. Waterwise have been party to discussions on targets within the Water Saving Group and acknowledge that it has been a difficult process to arrive at a consensus and to develop a set of targets that are meaningful, achievable and fair. In general, the approach laid out in the consultation is a good attempt at meeting these objectives.

May 2008 - Waterwise response to CLG’s Eco-towns consultation. Waterwise welcomes the government’s commitment to Eco-towns, and proposes a strengthened role for water efficiency in the context of climate change.

April 2008 - Waterwise response to Defra’s consultation on social and environmental guidance to OfwatWaterwise welcomes the importance attached to water efficiency in the guidance, and emphasises the multiple benefits from water efficiency measures, including in mitigating and adapting to climate change.

March 2008 - Waterwise response to Ofwat’s consultation on future strategy for customer charging. Waterwise welcomes the importance attached to water efficiency in the draft strategy, and the role of metering in reducing demand.

January 2008 - Waterwise response to Ofwat’s consultation on its forward programme 2008-09 to 2010-11. Waterwise welcomes the focus on adapting to and mitigating climate change, within which large-scale water efficiency squarely sits as a mainstream economic issue.

January 2008 - Waterwise response to the All Party Parliamentary Water Group’s inquiry into the Future of the UK Water Sector. Waterwise responds to questions on regulatory and water company structures and behaviour, with particular focus on climate change and water efficiency.

January 2008 - Waterwise response to Ofwat on their consultation paper Setting Price Limits for 2010-15: Framework and approach. Waterwise welcomes the emphasis on carbon and metering, and makes two specific suggestions: on water efficiency and on “demonstration activity”.

January 2008 - Waterwise response to RCEP on their study Adapting the UK to Climate Change. Waterwise outlines how water management will be crucial in adapting the UK to climate change, on social, economic and environmental grounds: wasting less water as it becomes more scarce. Water efficiency can also help mitigate climate change.
