Hot Water Film Competition Kicks Off on World Water Day

21 March 2013

On World Water Day Waterwise – as part of the SWAN initiative, is helping to launch an innovative film competition to inspire young people to make short films about water.

2012 saw the unprecedented situation of simultaneous flooding and drought, which is a powerful indicator that more must be done to understand and protect our water supplies.

In search of a solution, Hot Water  is inviting young people to create an inspirational, behaviour-changing film of TV advert length (no more than 50 seconds) that will aim to help put a stop to our bad water habits once and for all.

SWAN – a coalition of water companies Anglian Water, Affinity Water, Dee Valley Water, Scottish Water. South East Water, Southern Water, Sutton and East Surrey Water, and supporting organisations Defra, the Environment Agency, and coordinated by Waterwise, will be encouraging water users in their areas to create films to celebrate and participate in this initiative.

The Hot Water Film Competition opens at 11am on World Water Day 22nd March at The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust London Centre (Queen Elizabeth’s Walk, Barnes, SW 13 9WT).
