Water butts 'desperately seeking' rain this Valentine's Day

14 February 2012

The cold winter months have not brought as much wet weather as hoped, with January seeing around half the long term average rainfall expected.

However installing a water butt now will give you the best opportunity to start capturing and storing any rain that does fall ready for spring; you could even fill the water butt with any snow left in your garden!

Lee Dance, Head of Water Resources and Environmental at South East Water, said: “Now is the ideal time of year to install a water butt, to capture any rain when it finally falls, ready for pampering those spring blooms with the care and attention that they will require during the growing season."
